Reward Floated for Info on Madison Mallards Team Store Arson

Madison Mallards

With an investigation ongoing, authorities are offering an up to $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in a fire last week that damaged the Madison Mallards (summer collegiate; Northwoods League) team store.

On the night of October 17, a fire destroyed the team store at Warner Park, home of the Mallards. The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

Law enforcement officials announced last week that the case was being investigated as an arson, and are actively seeking information. As was announced Thursday, a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case. More from the Wisconsin State Journal:

A “unique” LED camping lantern was found near the scene that may belong to whoever was involved in the fire, authorities said. They are asking for help in identifying who might have owned or recently purchased the lantern, as well as any other information related to the fire.

The arson is being investigated by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Wisconsin Department of Justice, state fire marshal, Madison police and Madison Fire Department.

Though firefighters were able to mostly put it out within a few minutes of arriving on the scene, the fire did significant damage to the team store, causing its roof to collapse.
