Nashua’s Holman Stadium Celebrating Anniversary

Nashua Silver Knights

Holman Stadium achieves a milestone this year, as the home of the Nashua Silver Knights (summer collegiate; Futures Collegiate Baseball League) will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its first full season.

Over its decades of use, Holman Stadium has been home to teams at a variety of levels of baseball. The ballpark was dedicated in 1937, but not until September 23 of that year, so 2018 marks the 80th anniversary of its first full season.

That occasion will be honored by the Silver Knights on Tuesday, July 17, when Holman Stadium hosts the 2018 Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game. More information is expected to be announced down the road, but the event is slated to include multiple offerings in addition to the All-Star contest. More from The Telegraph:

If that sounds vague, it’s because some of the events haven’t yet been nailed down. What we do know is there will be a baseball game starting around 7 p.m., which will be the all-star game for the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, whose teams include the Nashua Silver Knights.

How about music? Yes, and various other types of entertainers as well. A brief speaking program will take place shortly before the game starts. And oh, being an all-star game, there will also be a home-run derby.

And word has it fireworks fans won’t be disappointed, nor will anyone with an appetite; the stadium’s concession stands, of course, will be open throughout.

Perhaps best of all, there is no admission charge into the stadium, but due to the fact it actually has a seating capacity, everyone will need a ticket.

The teams that have used Holman Stadium over the years have spanned a range of clubs from the affiliated minor leagues, to independent leagues and summer collegiate circuits. The Nashua Dodgers of the New England League played there from 1946-1949, and the ballpark was later used for Class AA Eastern League action from 1983-1986. A variety of independent league clubs occupied Holman Stadium beginning in the mid-1990’s, with the 2009 American Defenders of New Hampshire (Can-Am League) being the most recent professional team to have played at the ballpark. The Silver Knights have played at Holman Stadium since 2011.
