As part of a special promotion, the Aberdeen IronBirds (Short Season A; NY-Penn League) will play as the Aberdeen Star-Spangled Banners during select 2018 home games.
Every Sunday home game at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium will see the IronBirds play as the Star-Spangled Banners, an homage to the national anthem of the United States of America. Along with the Sunday home games, the Star-Spangled Banners uniforms will be worn during Military Appreciation night on Thursday, August 9. Later in the season, the uniforms will be auctioned off to benefit the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS).
A special team name also brings new uniforms & caps, featuring patches honoring the men & women of each branch of the U.S. Military & featuring lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner. The uniforms will be available for auction later this year, with all proceeds benefiting @TAPSorg. pic.twitter.com/SKcpbOVKzv

Along with the Star-Spangled Banners moniker and branding, the IronBirds are planning to use at least one other identity in 2018. After playing as the Aberdeen Steamed Crabs for one game last year, the IronBirds will bring the name back this year for their game on August 24.
