Mike Petrini has been named the new Executive Vice-President and General Manager of the River City Rascals (independent; Frontier League). He served the past two years in the same role for another Frontier League organization, the Normal CornBelters. Utilizing his extensive background across minor league baseball, Petrini will oversee the day to day operations of the front office staff including sales, marketing, community relations, and stadium operations.
Petrini graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He then earned his master’s degree at Citadel College in Charleston, South Carolina. During his time in the Palmetto state Petrini worked with the Charleston River Dogs (Low A; Sally League). After receiving his masters, the opportunity to join the Normal CornBelters as Director of Sales arose in 2015. After a successful first season, Petrini was promoted to Assistant General Manager in 2016, and finally General Manager in 2017.
Mike is moving to the O’Fallon area with his wife Erin, rescue dog named Leo, and cat Molly. He will be replacing long-time Rascals executive Lisa Ferreira who is moving on for an opportunity outside of the sports industry. “Erin and I are very excited to be part of the Rascals family and look forward to a fun filled season at Car Shield Field,” said Mike Petrini.
“We are thrilled to be able to have a capable and motivated baseball executive join our staff only months before the start of our 20th anniversary season,” said Rascals President Dan Dial. “Mike brings good experience through his stops in Charleston and Normal and will make the transition into the role a smooth one. It’s difficult to replace a GM as experienced and dedicated as Lisa, but I know our fans and partners will enjoy getting to know Mike over the coming years.”
