Rays, Marlins Announce Anniversary Promos

Rays Anniversary Jersey

The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins are about to celebrate anniversary seasons, and both teams have announced promotions in honor of the occasion.

In 2018, the Rays will celebrate their 20th anniversary. The team will honor that anniversary with numerous promotions throughout the year, including the use of a throwback jersey. During four select home games this year (March 31, June 9, June 23, and September 8), the Rays will take the field in Devil Rays throwback jersey that features the original gradient Devil Rays design that was worn from 1998-2000. The Rays began play in 1998 as the Devil Rays, using that name through the 2007 season.

“We are excited to celebrate 20 years of playing Major League Baseball in Tampa Bay,” said Rays Principal Owner Stuart Sternberg said in a press statement. “The festivities this year will bring smiles to faces as we recall the many colorful moments and incredible accomplishments of the last two decades. I’m grateful for all Rays staff, fans and supporters, who have done so much to make these 20 years so special for Tampa Bay.”

Marlins Throwback Jersey

The Marlins, meanwhile, have announced a similar initiative for their 25th anniversary. From June 8-10, the Marlins will host the San Diego Padres at Marlins Park and wear throwback jerseys as they celebrate 25th Anniversary weekend. The 25th Anniversary weekend will feature throwback jerseys with the teal pinstripe design that the franchise used upon its debut in 1993, when it began play as the Florida Marlins.

Along with the jerseys, the Marlins will offer throwback pricing, including $4 Vista Level tickets for all three games during that series. The Marlins will also honor moments from the inaugural season during every 2018 home game.
