The Hartford Yard Goats (Class AA; Eastern League) have a unique offseason promotion in store, as the club is offering goat yoga sessions at Dunkin’ Donuts Park.
Goat yoga has been featured elsewhere, though its inclusion at a minor league ballpark makes for a distinct offering, especially given the tie-in with the Yard Goats. Beginning later this month, the Yard Goats will offer the first of multiple goat yoga sessions. The sessions will take place in the indoor batting cage at Dunkin’ Donuts Park, and one scheduled for January 20 has already sold out.
However, the club has another session planned for February 17. More details on times and ticket availability can be found here, but the sessions will cost $40 per person and are open to anyone over the age of eight. Yoga mats are not provided, but there will be an estimated 10-15 goats in attendance from Aussakita Acres Farm in Manchester, CT and instruction provided by YogaPerk of Manchester.
Over the last several years, there has been an infusion of unique offseason events at ballparks. Some, like nine-hole golf courses and winter wonderlands, have been spotted at various venues since the 2017 season ended. However, goat yoga at Dunkin’ Donuts Park makes for a strong addition to the slate of offseason promotions as the beginning of the 2018 minor league season approaches.
