CBC Announces Promotions for Durham Bulls

Capitol Broadcasting Company has announced several promotions that will affect the operations of the Durham Bulls (Class AAA; International League). CBC is the parent company of the Bulls. 

Among the promotions is that of George Habel, who has been serving as the vice president of Capitol Sports. He is set to assume the position of vice president of special projects, effective in the spring.

“He has a tremendous amount of experience and wisdom to contribute to Special Projects. I am excited that George will be able to spend more time with his family while also continuing to provide important contributions to the company,” CBC President and Chief Operating Officer Jimmy Goodmon said in announcement.

Michael Goodmon has been elevated to the role of senior vice president. Along with working on the company’s real estate interests in Durham and Rocky Mount, Goodman will over see the baseball group.

Mike Birling, general manager of the Bulls, will be promoted to the position of vice president – baseball operations. Birling’s tenure with the Bulls began as an assistant general manager in 1998, and he received a promotion to the general manager post in 2003. He will report to Michael Goodmon in his new position.
