The Lansing Lugnuts have released details on their 2018 slate, highlighted by plans for the 2018 Midwest League All-Star Game. The 54th annual Midwest League All-Star Game presented by LAFCU is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19th, at Cooley Law School Stadium.
This will be the first All-Star Game staged in Lansing in more than a decade. Cooley Law School Stadium has undergone several improvements in recent years and one of the more notable additions, The Outfield Apartments, won a Ballpark Digest Best Ballpark Renovation award in 2016.
“The opportunity to host the Midwest League All-Star Game and showcase both the city of Lansing and Cooley Law School Stadium comes around only once every 16 years,” said Lugnuts general manager Nick Grueser. “Working with our great partners at LAFCU, we’re going to make sure the 2018 Midwest League All-Star Game will be an unforgettable experience.”
The last Midwest League All-Star Game hosted by the Lugnuts was in 2002, welcoming in a record attendance of 10,334 for the East’s 6-3 win over the West.
The 2018 Lansing Lugnuts season begins with an Opening Day Block Party on Saturday, April 7th, vs. the Great Lakes Loons, the first of the 17 postgame LAFCU Fireworks shows. Five months later on Tuesday, September 4th, the Lugnuts host the Michigan State Spartans in the Crosstown Showdown.
