The Hillsboro Hops (Short Season A; Northwest League) have announced that K.L. Wombacher has been promoted to president and general manager. Along with Wombacher’s new title, the club has announced that Mike McMurray is its chairman and CEO.
“Electing K.L. President of the team was one of the easiest decisions we have faced,” said Mike McMurray. “Since we have been in Hillsboro, KL has been the undeniable leader of the operation and has been the architect of our success. It is only right to give him the title commensurate with his responsibilities and accomplishments.”
Under Wombacher’s leadership, the Hillsboro Hops have drawn more than 550,000 fans to Hillsboro’s Ron Tonkin Field in just four years. The team has been among the top three teams in Northwest League attendance all four seasons. He also created a community involvement plan that has quickly elevated the profile of the Hops as a prominent advocate for Hillsboro and Washington County. His efforts have been recognized by his peers, most prominently in his being named the 2013 Northwest League Executive of the Year as well as being named to the prestigious “40 Under 40” list by the Portland Business Journal in 2015.
“It is truly a privilege to work for this ownership group.” said K.L Wombacher. “Not a day goes by that I’m not thankful for this opportunity because we have such a passionate staff, supportive fan base and embracing community. We are all very excited about the future and providing generations of family memories at the ballpark.”
