Can’t wait to see the bearded nachos: The Potomac Nationals (High Class A; Carolina League) are scheduling Beard-A-Palooza, complete with beard-related events all weekend.
Throughout the entirety of the weekend series against the Winston-Salem Dash, the Nationals will offer a bevy of bearded food items. There will be bearded nachos, the beardfather and a mini corn dog beard basket among others. At the conclusion of each game, all beards will be invited to run the bases.
Friday kicks off Beard-A-Palooza weekend with the official opening beardamony. A beard parade will culminate in the lighting of the beard torch, the beardamonial first pitch and a beard-filled national anthem. The P-Nats will hand out an award to the hairiest and scariest beard in Northern Virginia. Between-inning promotions include “Name That Beard” and beard trivia.
On Saturday, Beard-A-Palooza takes off with the Beard Olympics and the hairiest giveaway in P-Nats history. The first 1,000 fans to enter Pfitzner Stadium will receive a Jayson Werth bobblebeard. Throughout the game, The Pfitz will play host to the first annual Beard Olympics with competitions such as the fastest, longest, strongest and most creative beards. Post game bearded fireworks follow the game as well.
Sunday’s game will wrap a beard-filled weekend of festivities up with the closing beardamonies that will feature a “Beard vs Food” competition.
