River Bandits adding more carnival rides to ballpark

Drop and Twist

More improvements at Modern Woodmen Park next season, as the Quad Cities River Bandits (Low Class A; Midwest League) are adding more carnival rides and fan amenities.

The area beyond left field at Modern Woodmen Park is set to host a set of carnival rides and attractions, including a Ferris wheel and a carousel. Also part of the attractions, according to owner Dave Heller: a Drop and Twist ride. (This is a generic shot of a Drop and Twist ride. We include it for illustrative purposes only.) From KWQC:

Attempting to cater to a variety of interests, the ultimate goal for Heller is bringing in more support for the team. Whether it’s by cheering them on in the stands or paying to ride the merry-go-round.

“If we did just baseball, the team wouldn’t make money,” Heller said.

Also new for next season — the hours. The park attractions will stay open even while the team is away.

There are more improvements in the works: On Monday morning the River Bandits are unveilijng new logos, and we’re guessing we’ll hear shortly about 2014 improvements to Modern Woodmen Park, as voted on by fans.
