Wilson steps down as WCL prez

West Coast LeagueKen Wilson has stepped down as president of the summer-collegiate West Coast League, but will remain with the circuit as a consultant through the end of the season.

According to a published report. current WCL Vice President Eddie Poplawski will run the league on a daily basis until a successor is announced.

Under Wilson, the West Coast League expanded to 11 teams (with Yakima poised to enter the league in 2014, bringing the total to 12) and brought in solid ownership groups, including two groups with Minor League Baseball ownership ties. The league has also moved into larger markets and is poised for further growth in the region.

No word on the timetable to choose a successor.
