Ballpark Village construction to begin in February

Ballpark Village

Better late than never: the groundbreaking for the Ballpark Village project, next to Busch Stadium, is set for Feb. 8, as the St. Louis Cardinals and Cordish Cos. are ready to move ahead.

Ballpark Village, envisioned as a multi-use retail/office/entertainment complex, didn’t open when Busch Stadium did, as the floundering economy forced the team and developer Cordish to put things off. In recent months the Cards have brought in a few partners to the mix and moved forward with a financing plan. The Ballpark Village will include a St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum, a live music venue, a German-style beer hall bearing the Anheuser-Busch imprimatur and more.

The project should be ready for Opening Day 2014.
