Siebert Field is in the midst of a renovation for the 2013 season, but that didn’t stop U of Minnesota Golden Gophers Coach John Anderson from running fall practices on the ballpark’s new turf.
After the end of the 2012 Big Ten season, work began on the ballpark renovation. The old grandstand was torn down and the outfield fences — already falling down on their own — were removed. The footings of the new grandstand were poured, the frame of the building has been erected, and a new synthetic turf was installed.
With turf installation, Anderson called for outdoor fall practice.
The renovated Siebert Field will be the home of the Gophers beginning next season.
The DLR Group is overseeing design; PCL Construction is the contractor.
