Everyone is getting in on the affiliation action: the Round Rock Express (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) and the Texas Rangers extended their player-development contract through 2018 by adding an additional four years to the agreement.
The Rangers and Express entered into a four-year agreement for Round Rock to become Texas’ Triple-A affiliate in September 2010, effective for the 2011 season. The Express, who are owned by Ryan Sanders Baseball, finished with a 69-75 record in 2012 but had a 26-14 mark beginning July 26. Of course, the Ryan in Ryan Sanders Baseball is Nolan Ryan — CEO of the Rangers.
“We’re excited to solidify our relationship with the Rangers for the next six years,” Round Rock Express Founder and CEO Reid Ryan said. “The Rangers organization continues to be one of baseball’s best. Given the success of teams at lower levels within the organization this season, we know there will be a continuous stream of talent through Round Rock.”
Here’s a look at the current affiliate status.
