Silver Knight prep for second season

Nashua Silver KnightsAfter a decent first season, it looks like the Nashua Silver Knights (summer collegiate; Futures Collegiate Baseball League) are set for an improved 2012.

Launching a new league is always hard, and the FCBL did OK in its first season as a four-team circuit. The Silver Knights, playing out of historic Holman Stadium, averaged 869 fans a game — not a great number, but certainly a respectable one.

This season seems to have a lot more promise for the Silver Knights and owner Drew Weber: over 1,000 tickets have seen sold for tonight’s season opener, and the suites are all sold out. The league itself has certainly moved to an upper level, expanding from four teams in 2010 to nine teams for 2011.
