Vispoli, Boesch trade spots in broadcast booths

Frisco RoughRidersAlex Vispoli is the new voice of the Frisco RoughRiders (Class AA; Texas League), with Brian Boesch moving from Frisco to replace him as the voice of the Winston-Salem Dash (High Class A; Carolina League).

In addition to serving as the team’s liaison to the media, Boesch (pronounced “BUSH”) will broadcast all 140 Dash games on wsdash.com and on television. Boesch spent last season as the RoughRiders’ Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant. Prior to joining Frisco, he worked as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Burlington Royals (rookie; Appalachian League). Boesch is also a studio host and producer for Northern Illinois and Oregon men’s basketball with IMG College in Winston-Salem.

“I am incredibly honored to join the Dash organization,” Boesch said. “After spending some time in Winston-Salem, I have learned that the Dash are well-respected in the community, the region, and the Carolina League. I am excited to contribute to our media and broadcast efforts and get to know Dash players and fans. Opening Day cannot come soon enough.”

Mike Lefko, who will enter his first season as the Assistant Director of Media Relations for the Dash, will join Boesch in the broadcast booth. A graduate of Syracuse University, Lefko began broadcasting baseball with the Bourne Braves (summer collegiate; Cape Cod League). He also works at IMG College with Boston College and the ACC.

After two years with the Dash, Vispoli heads to Frisco, Texas, where he will broadcast all 140 RoughRiders games on radio and television and coordinate the team’s media efforts. Vispoli had broadcast every Dash game played at BB&T Ballpark and was behind the microphone for the stadium’s opening night on April 13, 2010 and for the Chicago White Sox exhibition game before last season.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Dash and will miss Winston-Salem a great deal,” Vispoli said.  “This is a first-class organization from top to bottom and I have been very lucky to be a part of it.  I will cherish the memories and relationships I have made over the years and wish Brian and the Dash all the best moving forward.”
