Angels to break world record for fans wearing wrestling masks

Los Angeles Angels of AnaheimIt’s a masked ball at Angel Stadium tonight, as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people wearing costume masks,” as all fans will be presented with a complimentary Angels Wrestling Mask and asked to wear it for ten minutes.

That the Angels will break the record is a foregone conclusion; according to the team, the record is 250 people. A sellout crowd of more than 40,000 fans will easily shatter the record.

“We are constantly looking for ways to connect and engage with our great fan base,” said Angels Vice President of Sales & Marketing Robert Alvarado. “Setting another world record to compliment last season’s blanket event will be a unique and memorable experience for our fans, and another memory during our 50th anniversary.”

After completion of the ten minutes, a Guinness World Records Adjudicator will officially certify the new record. Later in the game, Guinness World Records will hold a short ceremony to recognize the record breaking attempt.
