Personnel changes in New Britain, Fort Myers, Martha’s Vineyard

New Britain Rock CatsWe have some personnel shifts and additions today: Larry Bennese is the new trainer for the New Britain Rock Cats (Class AA; Eastern League), Chris Johnson is the new trainer for the Fort Myers Miracle (High Class A; Florida State League), and Hannah Schley is the new president of the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks (summer collegiate; Futures Collegiate Baseball League).

Bennese has been with the Miracle for the last 12 years and will begin his 17th season with the Twins organization this spring. The Penn State University graduate and five-time recipient of the Florida State League Trainer of the Year. will join former Miracle Manager Jeff Smith with the Rock Cats.

Johnson spent four years as trainer for the GCL Twins and recently filled in with the Beloit Snappers (Low Class A; Midwest League) in 2009 and last year was a rehab trainer for the Twins in Minnesota.

Schley, a graduate of Pepperdine University, has been involved with baseball her entire life. Her father, Van Schley, a long time owner of minor league baseball clubs, is one of the founding members of the first modern independent league, founding the Northern League in 1993. Hannah currently holds stock in several minor league baseball teams.

Her career in the game began in 2006, as a marketing and sales intern for the legendary St. Paul Saints (independent; American Association) in 2006. During the 2007 and 2008 seasons, Schley pursued internships for the Brockton Rox (independent; Can-Am League), having been involved in all aspects of the operations.
