The Huntsville Stars (Class AA; Southern League) and the Milwaukee Brewers were the two left standing at the end of the dance, so they’ll extend their player-development contract — reluctantly — through 2012.
It’s not been announced, though we received an email from a Brewers staffer about the deal. An announcement is expected in the near future.
The Brewers entered into the deal reluctantly: they’re concerned about the condition of Joe Davis Stadium, something that’s also of concern to the Stars ownership. The team has reportedly talked with other communities, most prominently Panama City, about a new ballpark for the franchise; there has also been talk of a new downtown ballpark in Huntsville as well.
