K-Tribe, Cleveland extend PDC

Kinston IndiansThe Kinston Indians (High Class A; Carolina League) and the Cleveland Indians will remain partners for the next two seasons, as the pair signed an extension to their player-development contract through 2012.

“We are excited and proud to continue our relationship with the Cleveland Indians,” says K-Tribe General Manager Shari Massengill. “The Cleveland Indians organization is one of the best in all of baseball. From the quality managers, coaches and players we get to work with every year, to the support from the front office, it has been an unbelievable relationship.”

In the K-Tribe’s 24 years (1987-2010) as a Cleveland Indians affiliate, the K-Tribe has enjoyed 19 winning seasons, 17 playoff appearances, 11 Southern Division Championships and five Carolina League Championships. In 24 years, more than 115 former Kinston Indians players have reached the Major Leagues. During the K-Tribe’s 24 years as a Cleveland affiliate, the Indians have missed the Carolina League Playoffs in back-to-back seasons only once. Last decade, Kinston led the Carolina League in regular season and playoff wins.
