Thunder to shop naming rights to Waterfront Park

trentonthunderThe Trenton Thunder (Class AA; Eastern League) are shopping naming rights to Waterfront Park and have retained Front Row Marketing, a division of Comcast, to assist in the process.

“We are willing to partner with a corporation who shares the same values as our brand and a commitment to the community in which we live and work,” said Will Smith, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Trenton Thunder.  “We believe this is an affordable marketing vehicle for a company to associate with one of the strongest sports brands and organizations in the world.”

Whether or not this is a good time to be hitting the market remains to be seen. On the one hand, the Thunder brand is exceedingly strong, and the team has a huge presence in the market. On the other hand, big naming-rights deals have been few and far between in recent years — but if the econony is indeed loosening up, none of that matters.
