New trophy to honor winner of annual Cubs/White Sox series

The official announcement comes later today, but we're told the White Sox and Cubs will announce a new trophy to be awarded to the winner of the two interleague series between the teams; we're hoping (though it's not likely) it will be named after Bill Veeck, who had ties to both teams.

The official announcement comes later today, but we're told the White Sox and Cubs will announce a new trophy to be awarded to the winner of the two interleague series between the teams; we're hoping (though it's not likely) it will be named after Bill Veeck, who had ties to both teams: he owned the White Sox and worked for the Cubs as a youth, helping to plant the famous ivy on the Wrigley Field outfield wall.

The teams play two three-game series as part of interleague play. In case there's a tie, a tiebreaker will be in place.
