McLane received a master’s in food management from State 50 years ago despite skipping classes, and he turned that degree into a financial empire that includes the Houston Astros. He donated $4 million toward the renovation of Kobs Field at McLane Baseball Stadium. A crowd of 2,460, including McLane, was on hand Saturday for opening weekend for the newest Big Ten facility.
