A capacity crowd of 7,116 fans was on hand last night at Charlotte County Sports Park to see Cal Ripken Jr. introduce his newest team, the Charlotte Stone Crabs (High Class A; Florida State League).
That, of course, is a record for any kind of minor-league game — indy or affiliated — in Charlotte County.
“We are thrilled with the success of our Inaugural Season Opening Night,” said Stone Crabs general manager Joe Hart. “We look forward to a tremendous 2009 season, and tonight was a great start.”
