Knights report increased ticket sales despite ballpark uncertainty

A new ballpark may be on hold and their current ballpark could be sold, but the Charlotte Knights report an increase in ticket sales heading into the season.
A new ballpark may be on hold and their current ballpark could be sold, but the Charlotte Knights (Class AAA; International League) report an increase in ticket sales heading into the season.

The team launches its season at Knights Stadium after facing an offseason where York County announced it was seeking bids for the ballpark and an effort to land a new Uptown facility was put on hold. That’s a lot of bad news for a team, but team officials say the affordability of minor-league baseball will help the team this year. Last season the Knights drew 312,000 fans to Knights Stadium; if the front office is like most we’ve been talking with, attendance should be up, but revenues probably down.
