The Tulsa Community Foundation will finance and build the ballpark.
The Tulsa Community Foundation will finance and build a new ballpark for the Tulsa Drillers (Class AA; Texas League), as the Tulsa Stadium Trust approves a construction plan calling for the ballpark to open in the 2010 season.
The foundation arranged financing for the $39.2 million ballpark in the form of a $25-million loan from Bank of Oklahoma after no bank bid on the project. In addition, the foundation will oversee construction of the ballpark, subcontracting the actual work to Manhattan Construction.
The total cost of the ballpark project, to be located in downtown Tulsa’s Greenwood District, is $60 million and includes other development in addition to the ballpark. Of the $60 million, $30 million comes from private contributions, $25 million from the proceeds of a downtown tax, and $5 million from the Drillers.
