Adam Kelly is the on-field emcee during between-innings promotions of Royals home games. He is now officially — and legally — empowered to perform weddings after receiving ordination from the nondemoninational Universal Life Church Monastery. True, the Most Reverend Kelly needed only to complete an online certification process to obtain his new title, but be says he is serious about his new role with the team.
"My whole reason for doing this is to create a unique experience for couples who get married, or renew their marriage vows at Rosenblatt Stadium," Kelly said. "I feel it will create lasting memories of their big event and of this world-renowned, historic ballpark."
The Royals ask couples interested in getting married at Rosenblatt – during a game day or non-game day – to write a letter to the team explaining why they should be the first couple to be joined in marriage by the Most Reverend Adam Pierce Kelly. The letter may be emailed to info@oroyals.com, or mailed to: Omaha Royals, 1202 Bert Murphy Ave., Omaha, NE, 68107, Attn: Most Reverend Kelly.
"We are excited to offer a very unique and fun service to our fans," said Rob Crain, Royals Assistant General Manager/Marketing. "We already have a lot of people ask to propose marriage at Rosenblatt and now we are able to actually conduct weddings."
