Carey steps down as Alexandria GM

Carey, who returned to Alexandria in November of 2005, was named the general manager of the Aces, marking his second stint as such for the club. The Aces won back-to-back United League Championships in 2006-2007 and lost in the final game of the championship this past season, also being name Co-Organization of the Year following the 2006 season.

Carey, a native of Illinois first came to the Aces organization in 1999 as their assistant general manager. He would spend the next three years in that role before being named as the clubs general manager prior to the 2002 campaign. In his seven seasons with the ball club, the Aces failed to make the post-season only once in 2000.

"This was a very hard decision to make, said Carey. "The past three years have been the most fulfilling in my professional career. I want to thank the United League for the opportunity, both Alexandria and Pineville city governments for their support; but most importantly the fans and partners who make the Aces one of the best organizations in baseball." Carey added.
