This, to us, means a goal of having the ballpark open for the 2011 season is in doubt: two years to build a retractable-roof ballpark seems to be a mighty tall order. Miami-Dade County officials aren’t saying why they’re delaying the bond sale, though in past weeks commissioners did refer to turmoil in the credit markets being a factor in ballpark planning. Between then and now the county must approve five separate ballpark agreements, and there’s already talk of support on the county board diminishing, though we won’t know that until the actual votes.
