Rosenblatt Stadium demolition proceeds; press box taken down

Rosenblatt Stadium

The demolition of Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium continues, as explosives are deployed in an effort to bring down the press box behind home plate. Yes, we have video.

The former home of the College World Series and the Omaha Royals (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) is coming down this summer to make way for an expansion of the next-door zoo. The grandstand is gone and the playing field is no more.

The property is now controlled by the Omaha Zoo Foundation. The plan is to expand the zoo facilities but leave home plate and infield intact as a tribute to the ballpark.
