Unusual promo: the Portland Sea Dogs (Class AA; Eastern League) are honoring the inevitability of death and taxes tonight by giving away a tombstone — on Tax Day — courtesy of a local funeral home.
Fans entering the ballpark will be welcomed by Uncle Sam himself as he takes a break one of his busiest days of the year to be at Hadlock Field. The promotion is in recognition of the truism that the only guarantees in life are death and taxes. And, as the press release said, the Sea Dogs are “dead” serious about this promotion.
