A proposed Wilmington (N.C.) ballpark will be on the agenda for the City Council tomorrow night, though there will be no vote on the plan.
Specifically, according to the city Website, the council will discuss:
Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with Mandalay Baseball Properties, LLC (MBP) and the Atlanta National League Baseball Club, Inc. (ATL) regarding the pursuit of a public/private partnership to plan for, finance, develop and construct a ballpark in the City.
There’s not much surprising in the MOU: it says that the city will exclusively negotiate a new ballpark development plan with Mandalay Baseball Properties and the Atlanta Braves over the next six months. The city has already identified a downtown waterfront site near the PPD headquarters as the potential home to the ballpark.
