In a move that is being attributed to a typo, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Class AAA; International League) will play as the IronPugs on August 19. Due to a simple spelling mistake by IronPigs President and General Manager, Kurt Landes – the team will become the IronPugs for one day.
Landes ordered T-shirts for the August 19 giveaway and accidentally spelled IronPigs with a “u” instead of an “i”. After confessing to his mistake, Landes pointed to his mobile phone’s auto-correct feature as the main culprit.
“In what was a simple typo by me, we are now forced to become the ‘IronPugs’ for this day,” Landes said. “It had to have been the auto-correct on my mobile phone. We’ve all been there, right? Now, like any pig, I have mud on my face.”
The IronPigs will be giving away a free “IronPugs” T-Shirt to 3,000 fans 18 and older courtesy of MATHESON. The IronPigs, er IronPugs, players themselves will be donning the new IronPugs caps on-field during the contest. The IronPugs on-field cap features a liquid chrome logo – a first in IronPigs/IronPugs history. As such, the IronPugs will also be hosting a cap raffle during the game and fans will be able to bring their dogs to the park for the final TD Bank Dog Day of 2019.
IronPugs-themed merchandise is now available in the Majestic Clubhouse Store. Visit the store or ShopIronPigs.com to see the selection of IronPugs merchandise.
