The Elizabethton Twins (Rookie; Appalachian League) have struck a naming-rights partnership for Joe O’Brien Field, which is now known as Joe O’Brien Field at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark. The partnership with Northeast Community Credit Union kicks off the team’s first year under Boyd Sports, LLC.
Starting with the 2019 season, the Twins’ home stadium will be named Joe O’Brien Field at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark. The change comes after Boyd Sports assumed the management contract of the Elizabethton Twins in February of 2019.
“It is an honor to be partnering with Northeast Community Credit Union,” said Boyd Sports Vice President Jeremy Boler. “Northeast Community Credit Union has a long history of serving residents in this area. Their commitment to this community has created a new level of excitement for the ballpark and for the future of the Elizabethton Twins. We are proud to call Joe O’Brien Field at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark our new home.”
The Elizabethton Twins have a long history in professional baseball with the Minnesota Twins, as the team has been affiliated with Minnesota since the Elizabethton Twins started professional baseball in 1974. The Elizabethton Twins have 12 Appalachian League Championships since 1974.
“Our credit union continues to win national and local awards for our loan and account services and our dedication to community support, including National Credit Union of the Year, Reader’s Choice, and Certified Community Development Financial Institution,” said Northeast Community Credit Union President/CEO Teresa Arnold. “Pairing the winningest financial institution with the winningest team in the Appalachian League makes perfect sense.” Arnold stated NCCU focuses on helping students and adults of all ages reach their financial goals, and name recognition is a big part of that. “We’re always looking for opportunities to tell our story and show how handling money matters can be both easy and practical for everyone. This sponsorship helps make that possible while promoting family fun and encouraging great summer memories for kids, teens and adults.”
