The Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Class AA; Southern League) have announced several Blue Wahoos Stadium upgrades, including a re-sodding project and a new 20-foot LED dual video and score board. The renovations are being completed ahead of the upcoming 2019 season.
Brand new themed concession storefronts will change fans’ culinary experiences at the stadium this year, a new 20-foot LED dual video and score board will be installed behind home plate, the Bubba’s Sand Trap bar and restaurant will have a new outdoor tiki bar façade and new signature food items. In addition, the Blue Wahoos have announced that they will be re-sodding the entire infield and home plate foul territory area this week.
Work will begin on the playing surface on Wednesday, March 13. The new turf will be provided by Bent Oak Farms in Foley, Alabama, and span approximately 17,000 square feet of the Admiral Fetterman Field playing surface. The first game action on the new infield grass will take place on Monday, March 18 when Escambia High School takes on Milton High School at 7:00 PM.
Given this timing, the re-sodding project will be completed well in advance of the Blue Wahoos’ 2019 home opener. Their first game of the regular season at Blue Wahoos Stadium will be played on April 10, when they host the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
