Branding for the upcoming Colorado Springs club in the Rookie-level Pioneer League is set to be unveiled, as an announcement is scheduled for November 19. The press conference will take place at 11:30 a.m. MST at the Banquet Hall at Security Service Field.
The process began on June 13 when the team announced a “Name the Team” contest. After receiving over 2,000 entries, the top five finalists were announced in July. The final judging of the winning team name was based on originality, creativity, uniqueness, regional relevance and appropriateness for our fan base.
“Our goal was to create a new identity that reflected Colorado Springs’ heritage and the type of organization we are building, steeped in family fun and entertainment at an affordable price,” said General Manager Chris Phillips. “The winning name is something fun, modern, and ultimately different, that the community will be able to rally behind and take pride in as we usher in this exciting new era of professional baseball in Colorado Springs.”
In addition to the new team name, colors, logos and 2019 schedule, new merchandise will also be unveiled and available for purchase through the online team store as well as through the merchandise store at the stadium starting at 1:00 p.m. on the 19th.
The Pioneer League’s arrival to Security Service Field is the result of the former Helena Brewers relocating to Colorado Springs. They are taking the place of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League), who have moved to San Antonio to replace the Missions (Class AA; Texas League) as they shift to a new ballpark in Amarillo. This is all part of a series of franchise relocations by the Elmore Sports Group.
