Chris Morgan Resigns as BayBears GM

Mobile BayBears

After four seasons at the helm, Mobile BayBears (Class AA; Southern League) general manager Chris Morgan is resigning from his post.

Morgan was just recently named the 2018 Southern League Executive of the Year, but his departure comes during a period of transition for the franchise. In 2019, the BayBears will play their final season at Mobile’s Hank Aaron Stadium before relocating to Madison, AL for 2020 and beyond.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Morgan announced that he was stepping away from the BayBears to “pursue other opportunities,” while thanking the Mobile community for its support. More from AL.com:

Morgan released the following statement on Tuesday:

“After careful consideration, I have made the decision to step away from the Mobile BayBears to pursue other opportunities. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 4 years as General Manager of the BayBears and want to thank Mike Savit and HWS Baseball for providing me with the opportunity to oversee the organization back in 2014. I also want to thank our fans, sponsors, media partners, and city officials for their support. Most importantly, much appreciation goes to the members of our front office staff who have always put forth tremendous effort and maintained a positive mindset each and every day, despite unique and occasionally difficult circumstances. I wish them and everyone associated with the BayBears organization nothing but the best in 2019 and encourage the public to show their support during the team’s final season.”

Once the BayBears relocate, they will play in a new ballpark that is being constructed in the Town Madison development. Their move to Madison will coincide with a rebrand to the Rocket City Trash Pandas name.
