At tonight’s contest at Canal Park, the Akron RubberDucks (Class AA; Eastern League) will have fans attempt a new Guinness World Record with the largest game of “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.”
The attempt will take place immediately following the conclusion of the RubberDucks game vs. Bowie Baysox (7:05 p.m.) before the post-game Diamond Ball fundraiser. The current record of 1,632 participants for Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes was set on Oct. 10, 2010, in Bendigo, Australia, by Bendigo South East College.
“We are all about family fun and what better way to have a great time at Canal Park than to be part of a record-setting experience,” said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander. “RubberDucks fans are the best and it would only be fitting for them to hold a place in the Guinness Book of World Record.”
Tonight’s game is also the team’s fourth social media night of the season and the theme will be on the prankster side with “August Fool’s Day” gathering attention throughout the game’s promotions and in-game entertainment. Fans are encouraged to share their experience from the game and the record attempt using the hashtag #QuAkron.
It is also a Wellness Wednesday, presented by Summa Health and 640 WHLO. Each Wednesday home game is geared toward fun ways for fans to get active and stay healthy, a perfect fit with the Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes attempt.
