When the 2018 season begins, the Lake County Captains (Low A; Midwest League) will have some new food items on the menu at Classic Park.
This year, the Captains are making various changes to their menu options throughout Classic Park, including offerings on the ballpark’s suite level and concourse areas. The numerous additions for 2018 include, but are not limited to, a new taco stand and upgraded nachos stand on the concourse, new menu options on the suite level, and the addition of a pizza burger.
Captains senior director of food and beverage John Klein indicated that demand and fan feedback factored into creating the new items. More from The News-Herald:
Last year, a season ticket holder raved to Klein about a pizza burger he’d enjoyed at another ballpark. This season, a pizza burger featuring Jet’s pizza, sausage, provolone cheese and marinara sauce will be a new item at the main concession stand on the third base concourse.
Having noted steady demand for chicken fingers and chicken sandwiches at the concourse concession stands, Klein is adding two chicken items this season. They are chicken drumsticks with barbecue or buffalo sauce, and chicken strips with sweet dipping sauce and battered sweet potato waffer fries.
“You can’t go wrong with chicken,” Klein said, smiling.
Cleveland Polish Boy sandwiches topped with cole slaw, french fries and barbecue sauce will be a new offering at the Captains Grill behind home plate on the concourse.
With the 2018 season quickly approaching, expect to see plenty of food announcements from teams across baseball in the coming weeks, including those at the major league and minor league levels.
