Just a reminder: today’s solar eclipse is set for this afternoon, and a slew of Minor League Baseball teams are holding games and open houses to celebrate the celestial event.
You can read Jarah Wright’s story about ballpark celebrations and the eclipse here.
To say that this has been a big deal for the prepared MiLB teams is an understatement: a great crowd on a Monday! Eric Leach, GM of the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Low A; Midwest League), passed along this information: “As of 6 a.m. we have sold tickets to fans from 23 different states and three countries. The fan traveling the longest distance is from Rio De Janerio. Inside the continental U.S. we have people from California to Massachusetts who will be in attendance.” Not bad for a Monday matinee!
