Some big names leaving Minor League Baseball today. The first: President/GM Rick Brenner of New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Class AA; Eastern League) and DSF Sports and Entertainment is leaving for the motorsports world.
Brenner has been with DSF Sports and Entertainment and the Fisher Cats have announced for eleven seasons, and has worked in Minor League Baseball for 23 seasons. International Speedway Corporation has named Brenner president of the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI.
“I very much appreciate the terrific job that Rick has done and wish him the best in his new position,” said Fisher Cats owner Art Solomon. “One of his most important contributions has been his help in building a fantastic Fisher Cats front office staff that is both deep and talented. We look forward to continuing the team’s success in 2017 and beyond.”
With Brenner’s help, the Fisher Cats have developed a strong philanthropic reputation in the community. The Fisher Cats and the Fisher Cats Foundation have provided more than $4 million in monetary and in-kind donations for thousands of local non-profit groups, headlined by the annual Granite State Baseball Dinner, which has donated more than $1.4 million to charity since 2007.
“I want to thank Art, his family, my co-workers, the fans and our partners for a time in my life that will never be forgotten. This community, DSF Sports and the Fisher Cats are very special, and the team has an amazing front office that will continue to create success for many years to come,” said Brenner. “I am fortunate to have been a part of such an incredible organization for so many years.”
