The Clinton LumberKings achieved a unique milestone on Friday, becoming the first Midwest League franchise to win 4,000 games. They did so with a 4-2 over the Lansing Lugnuts at Cooley Law School Stadium.
Trailing 1-0 in the second, the LumberKings rallied with three runs and ultimately never relinquished the lead. They added their fourth and final run in the sixth on an RBI double by Chris Mariscal.
Starter Luiz Gohara gave the LumberKings a solid performance, striking out seven batters over six innings of work while allowing three runs.
The historic win came in front of a packed house, as the Lugnuts drew over 7,400 fans to Friday’s contest.
