The new era of baseball at Grayson Stadium will start with a bang, as the Savannah Bananas (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain league) have sold out their opener. The Bananas will play in front of a packed house on Thursday, June 2.
To ensure a better fan experience, the Bananas are halting ticket sales for Thursday’s game, but seats are available for Friday.
“The response has been tremendous,” said team president Jared Orton. “We can’t wait to finally get the season underway. We’re cutting off ticket sales for Thursday’s game in order to make sure we can deliver a terrific fan experience for everyone in attendance. We want them to be able to eat, drink, and enjoy the Kids Zone and move about the concourse and seating areas without being packed.”
There are still tickets remaining for the Bananas second game of the season on Friday, June 3rd. First pitch is at 7:05pm. Friday’s game has been billed Savannah Idol Night. 15 contestants will compete to be named Savannah’s best singer. Gates open at 6pm with the first singers taking the field at 6:15pm. Fans can cheer on their favorite singer and find out who will be crowned Savannah Idol.
Savannah’s own Idol Lee Jean Jr. will be singing the National Anthem on Friday night and be signing autographs.
