The Stockton Ports (High A; California League) are about to welcome their sixth millionth fan, marking a major attendance milestone.
Entering tonight’s action, the Ports are just 8,736 fans away from the six-million threshold. The team anticipates that the sixth millionth fan will walk through the gates of Banner Island Ballpark on Saturday or Sunday, which would set the stage for a series of ceremonies and prizes for the honoree.
The lucky fan will be greeted with a celebration at the gates, an on-field ceremony with a first pitch opportunity and a team autographed jersey, a suite for this Sunday’s home game, and most notably, will receive six MVP season tickets for the remainder of the 2016 season.
“The Ports organization would like to thank all of our partners and fans, whether they have made it out to one game or thousands,” said Ports General Manager Bryan Meadows. “This is a tremendous achievement made possible by all of our fans, who we cannot thank enough for their continued support.”
Fans interested in becoming the six millionth fan can purchase tickets for this weekend’s games at Stocktonports.com, at the Stockton Ports Box Office, or over the phone at 209-644-1900.
Once they welcome their sixth millionth fan, the Ports will join the list of teams who have achieved major attendance milestones early this season. The Clearwater Threshers (High A; Florida State League) welcomed their two millionth fan earlier this month, while the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Class AAA; International League) recently hit the five million mark during a record-breaking opening series at Coca-Cola Park.
