The West Michigan Whitecaps (Low A; Midwest League) are at it again. Known for their past unveiling of bold food offerings such as the Fifth Third Burger and the Hot-to-Tot, the Whitecaps are rolling out Dutch Love, a loaded new wrap that will be sold at Fifth Third Ballpark this season.

As they have done in previous offseasons, the Whitecaps opened a fan poll for a new menu item. With 26% of the vote, Dutch Love—a wrap that features turkey pot roast, gravy, cheese curds, and fries in a pita—was chosen, and will be served at the Comfort Food cart behind home plate. It is slated to make its stadium debut during the team’s home opener on April 9.

Whitecaps Director of Food and Beverage Matt Timon loves this choice. “When we first started the food voting, fans chose outrageous items like the Declaration of Indigestion (foot long hot dog and cheesesteak combination) and the Baco (taco shell made of bacon) but for the last two years they’ve voted for taste. With last year’s winner, the Hot-to-Tot, and now Dutch Love we’ve added two items that have great flavor. The Dutch Love is one I’ll enjoy all summer. It’s tasty!”

The Whitecaps narrowed down a list of hundreds of menu suggestions to eight finalists and earlier this month fans chose the winner. Dutch Love’s 26% edged out the Deep Fried Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie’s 22%. Coming in third was the 1,300 calorie High Five Burger with 20%, and fourth place was the bacon-wrapped corn Franky Ears.

This year, fans will also get to build their own gourmet hamburger. The Build Your Own Burger cart will have a selection of waffle, pretzel, brioche and traditional burger buns. Add the 1/3 pound hamburger, turkey burger or vegeburger and choice of cheese. Then select toppings such as guacamole, bacon and sriracha ketchup.

Other new concessions items include Cole’s Pub Cheese Stuffed Pretzel Sticks, soft pretzels with Founders Dirty Bastard Mustard served in the Founders Craft Clubhouse, chicken chips, Buffalo chicken sticks and turkey pot roast and gravy. Returning fan favorites are the above-mentioned Hot-to-Tot, deep-fried Nutella and Oreo churros. The famous Fifth Third Burger lives on as well.

The Whitecaps also announced some new beer and alcohol selections. A Not Your Father’s Rootbeer cart has been introduced at the ballpark, and will be complete with adult root beer floats. Among the other beverages to look for at Fifth Third Ballpark include Smirnoff Ice Electric, Labatt Blue, and Labatt Blue Light.
