The Midland RockHounds (Class AA; Texas League) are upgrading their in-game graphics at Security Bank Ballpark with a new main video display and additional scoreboards, to be installed prior to the start of the 2015 season.
The upgrades come from Daktronics.
“We are excited to partner with Daktronics on our new baseball videoboard,” said RockHounds General Manager Monty Hoppel. “The board will be over two and a half times as large as the old board and the layout is first class.”
The main video display will measure approximately 21.5 feet high by 34.5 feet wide and will feature a 15HD pixel layout for crisp, clear imagery. The wide angle visibility will be visible from every seat in the ballpark. The display features variable content zoning, which allows it to show one large image across the entire display, or it can also be separated into multiple zones to show any combination of scoring information and statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages.
“Daktronics has done a great job in helping us get the best price and we still believe we are getting outstanding quality,” added Hoppel. “Fans will be really surprised at the color and size of the board. It surely will enhance our game entertainment and our community will talk about the board for years to come.”
Two custom outdoor scoreboards will also be installed, one on each side of the main display. These displays will measure 5 feet high by 14 feet wide to show standard baseball statistics such as ball, strike, out, runs and inning information for players and fans.
“We would like to thank the City of Midland and the RockHounds for once again placing their trust in Daktronics,” said Daktronics Sales Representative Matt Braegelmann. “We’re looking forward to continuing our long-standing partnership. These improvements to Security Bank Ballpark will surely enhance the game-day atmosphere and are something all RockHounds’ fans can be proud of for many years to come.”
