Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium could be the name of the Frederick Keys (High Class A; Carolina League) ballpark if approved from the city’s Board of Aldermen on Thursday.
The Keys front office has been shopping naming rights since last year. When the Keys and the city negotiated the most recent 10-year Harry Grove Stadium lease, there was a provision allowing the Keys to work out a naming-rights deal, with the two sides negotiating a split in revenues. The Keys retained a firm, Team Services, to shop those rights.
And apparently we have a taker: Nymeo Federal Credit Union. Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium could be the name of the Frederick Keys (High Class A; Carolina League) ballpark after approval from the city’s Board of Aldermen, according to team GM Dave Ziedelis. From the Frederick News-Post:
The field will be named for Nymeo for at least seven years. The Keys were able to negotiate the sponsorship only for the remaining length of the club’s contract with the city, Ziedelis said.
Frederick Mayor Randy McClement is thrilled with the agreement, said Nikki Bamonti, McClement’s executive assistant.
The aldermen are likely to approve the agreement, Bamonti said; she has spoken with most of them, and she has received only positive feedback.
No word on the yearly payment due the Keys and the city, but the number should be made public. The city will receive 35 percent of the profits from the naming-rights deal; the Keys will keep the rest.
