Another PDC extension that makes sense: the Augusta GreenJackets (Low Class A; Sally League) and the San Francisco Giants extended their player development contract through 2016.
The GreenJackets-Giants relationship dates back to 2005, and 2015 will mark the 11th season of the partnership.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Giants,” said GreenJackets President Jeff Eiseman. “They have been great partners and we have enjoyed great on-field success here in Augusta over the past decade. This is an exciting time in GreenJackets history and we look forward to celebrating many more years with the Giants to come.”
During the partnership, the GreenJackets have qualified for the South Atlantic League playoffs in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013. In 2008, the ‘Jackets won their fourth South Atlantic League Championship and in 2009 the GreenJackets had the best overall record in the SAL South. The GreenJackets have compiled an impressive 784-598 record under the Giants leadership.
“The San Francisco Giants have been a great partner and consistently supplied both players and coaches that have represented the GreenJackets organization well on and off the field here in the CSRA,” said GM Tom Denlinger. “We are excited to continue this partnership together.”
“The San Francisco Giants enjoy working with the new ownership and management team of the Augusta GreenJackets,” said Giants’ Vice President & Assistant General Manager Bobby Evans. “We are looking forward to continuing to develop our young players in the great baseball community of Augusta.”
