It’s appropriate that our ninth-most popular story from 2014 is posted on Christmas Eve, as the Williamsport Crosscutters (short season A; NY-Penn League) generated lots of attention for the ugly Christmas sweater uniforms sported by the team for a Halfway to Christmas promotion.
Now, Christmas-themed promotions are a staple of Minor League Baseball. But the Spinners and other teams took the promotion to a new level with colorful uniforms based on one of the most unlikely cultural trends to emerge the past few years: ugly Christmas sweaters.
